Citizens Advice is aiming to improve the debt-related information service it can provide to people with serious money problems around the UK.

With this aim in mind, the organisation is hoping to canvass opinions on what kinds of information and help consumers with debt problems really need as they look to resolve their issues.

The plan has been set in motion partly because the charity believes many indebted consumers are finding it difficult or even impossible to reach an agreement with their creditors unless a third-party group has been involved in the process.

A statement from Citizens Advice explained that its aim for the current research is to ensure that "everyone can more easily access good quality advice and information, become debt free and get back on track with their finances".

Meanwhile, the charity is also aiming to raise awareness of the issue of fuel-related debt, which it regards as a growing problem across the country.
