Large amounts of foreign currency is being frittered away by British holidaymakers who do not want to take the time to convert it back into sterling, it has been suggested.
Many people are seeing their debt management and money problems made worse but one in five British holidaymakers admit that they often waste their foreign money while they wait for their return flights to the UK.
Additionally, close to half of all travellers from the UK go over their holiday budgets and fewer than one in five say they always keep a tight reign on their overseas spending, American Express reports.
"The last thing people want to do when they go on holiday is worry about money and this summer’s trend should be about being savvy with your money," said Kirstie Bayley from the firm behind the research.
A report last week from Prudential suggested that money problems are currently the greatest single cause for concern among British consumers.
